Hi everyone, I’ve been a follower of street art for a few years now, taking photos of what’s new and different. I’ve got quite a large collection and have been wondering what to do, so I thought I would share some of these with you.
Invariably hobbies are about keeping one ‘off the streets’ but capturing street art is the complete opposite. There’s always another undiscovered laneway or alley to be discovered. And with all hobbies, you never reach an end where there is nothing more. Street art particularly is ever-changing and sometimes 6 months can be a long time for something to be around. But, I do understand that some people can’t come at it, so I’ve taken the opportunity to proffer some other items for you too.
What I am trying to find out is... is it art or not? At what point does something become a piece of art. Please let me know your thoughts.
Let’s face it, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and not everything that we see, we like and you can never get everyone to agree on the same thing. So, let’s work through a few categories and examples which I have put up for everyone to see.

One smart literature professor from Oxford suggested a simple formula: it is Art if there is at least one person who believes so, even though it can be art for only that one person )

Hi There, does anyone know where I might be able to sell about 300 Tuckfield’s tea cards all in perfect condition and representing many of the series that were printed. Thank you in anticipation of a reply.
There are a few options that I am aware of. There are often Sunday markets where people can sell their collectible items, but beware, many dealers come in very early and attempt to get the day’s “best value” before others arrive. Have a look out for various ‘Collector’s magazines’. there are often local editions in newsagents and magazine shops. They advertise dates/locations for various ‘Collector’ weekend events. Often people have to pay to attend, sometimes a ‘gold coin’ donation is sufficient, other’s have fixed entry fees. If you find one which is a swap-card meet, attend at least one in advance and get an idea of how much people charge for individual cards or whole sets. There are more which I think to be art, but I think that these give excellent examples. Most of all I love among these examples ice and snow art (4 posts). If You are interested, so I can show to You more of my “so called” art, some of which cannot be nowhere else than in Finland. I am not artist, I love things which people create. Wood carvings are very popular in Finland and they can be found around in Finland.

I teach Art History and what I say to my students is that you don’t have to like a piece of art, but you do need to appreciate where it came and the effect it had. Great point. Thank you.
At school, I loved history. I loved art. Never the twain did it meet and more the pity for this. The marriage of both makes one understand why art movements changed and the potential catalysts which created them. One of the best exhibitions I attended was one which celebrated the Art Deco era – which included art works, furniture, elements of architecture, literature and in the background featured musical ‘hits’ of the era. This brought about my latest love – Art Deco Architecture. One day I might collate these photos and start a new thread!
