Between 1905-1911 Josef Hoffmann built the Palais Stoclet in Brussels. Too dramatic for aprivate house and more Cubist than Art Nouveau, it contains mosaic murals by Gustav Klimt which are perhaps his masterpiece, consisting of highly stylized trees punctuated by single embracing figures. This drawing is a detail of a cartoon for one of the women. Vienna Sezession
